A clergyman was placed in Quarantine, having caught Small pox in the execution of his duties. Convalescence, the Revd C.I. Massen.
On the resignation of the Chaplain of the Church Missionary Society, who had been appointed Acting Colonial Chaplain vice Revd Molson, I had to accede to a request made by His Excellency the Governor to assume the Colonial duties of said Chaplain on 26th April 1867, and was compelled to discharge in addition to my other arduous duties up to the date of my departure from the Colony on September 15th 1867.
The actual tenure therefore was: I solicit the full pay of the Office from May 13th to Sept: 5th 1866, – and from Feb. 12th to Sept: 15th 1867, or about 16 months.
I beg to state for the information of Your Grace the duties which I had to perform without any assistance whatever.
Weekly: Daily Morning Service on board H.M.S. "Bristol". Occasional Service in Government House, Hospital, and in Victoria Gaol.
A Celebration of the Holy Communion in St. John's Cathedral every Holy-day.
On Sundays: Service & Sermon at 11a.m. in St. John's Cathedral.
Also a Celebration of the Holy Communion 1st Sunday in the Month. Evening Service & Sermon at 3p.m. H.M.S. "Bristol". At 5 p.m. in St. John's Cathedral.
